This Egyptian Bentonite Clay mask removes dirt, grime, and excess oil that clogs your skin's pores. In addition, clay tightens the skin and stimulates circulation. It is great for removing acne, blackheads, eczema, rashes, age spots, and much more (I even use it on my poison ivy!).
Bentonite clay is referred to as Montmorillonite. It is of volcanic origin and is rich in magnesium. It is a very fine clay and has a powerful, healing and drawing action upon the skin. Bentonite is unique in its structure, once it becomes hydrated, its electrical and molecular components change and produce electrical charges, causing it to swell and become like a porous open sponge. This structure allows it to soak up bacteria and debris from the follicle wall through an electrical attraction.
I chose all of the ingredients for this mask for a very specific reason, and together they are really effective at battling acne and oil prone skin. For this recipe, I use:
Organic Bentonite Clay- has amazing drawing power and will help to open and clean out the pores. It removes excess sebum and is an excellent exfoliant. Bentonite Clay has natural antibacterial properties as well and will dramatically speed the healing of the pimples. Many times, when people begin using clay masks to combat acne, they notice that their acne appears to worsen before it improves. Don't panic if this happens to you! This is a good thing. It means that the clay is doing its job, and is pulling the toxins from your skin. Also, your face may show some redness when you remove the clay. This is very normal. The clay increases the blood circulation to the skin, which aids in the healing process.
To use: apply a thin layer of your mask twice a week. Keep out of eyes. Leave on for 5-10 minutes for sensitive skin and up to 15 minutes for normal skin. The mask will tighten, don't be alarmed that just means it's working!
*Before applying it on your skin, be sure to use a test patch to make sure there are no risks of allergic reaction.*
Your egyptian clay mask will come in a 2 oz container with a silicon applicator brush.
